Denali National Park and Preserve is located in Interior Alaska and contains Mount McKinley (Denali). The Mount McKinley is the tallest mountain in North America. The word “Denali” means “the great one” in the native Athabaskan language and refers to the mountain itself. With six-million acres of awe-inspiring beauty crowned by magnificent Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park & Preserve is one of Alaska’s most popular destinations.
Denali National Park and Preserve’s dynamic glaciated landscape supports a diversity of wildlife, including grizzly bears, caribou, wolves, Dall sheep and moose. Visitors enjoy sightseeing, backpacking, and mountaineering. Whether climbing or admiring, the crowning jewel is North America’s highest peak, the awe-inspiring, 20,320 foot Mount McKinley. |
